Brittany Jean

Brittany Jean was born and raised in West Chicago, Illinois.  She moved to Brewster, Washington with her parents, in 2013.

When her folks dropped her off to begin her Freshman Year of College at Taylor University (Majoring in both Music Composition and Performance) her dad told her “of course we want to provide you with the same College Experience that we provided for your siblings…..but my great fear is that College will get in the way of your Music”.  The following summer her folks were wondering how they were going to be able to afford another year of College.  Two weeks before heading back to Taylor, Brittany came to her folks and said….”remember when you told me that you were afraid that College would get in the way of my music?…….Well……it does”….to which her folks replied……”well, that’s great news because we have been wrestling with how we could tell you that we can’t afford to send you back this year”.

Shortly after this, we began looking for Professional Studios where Brittany could record some of her songs.  In High School and College she had made many recordings on Garage Band and we wanted to discover the difference between Garage Band and a Professional Recording Studio.  We began calling Recording Studios in the Chicagoland Area, but soon came to understand that Chicago was all about Hip Hop, Blues, Jazz, Pop…….not Country or Folk.  We wanted Brittany working in a Studio that was fond of her kind of music…..so we began calling Studios in Nashville….asking for an email address so we could send them Brittany Jean’s EPK and samples of her work.  At one studio, a gentleman answered the phone and after explaining that we simply wanted the Studio Email address……he replied….”Why don’t you tell me what this is all about”…..in his easy southern accent.  So, after hearing what we were trying to accomplish, he asked us to send him a Demo and he would let us know his honest opinion.  Two weeks later, he called and said…..”she reminds me a lot of Alison Krauss.  Why don’t y’all come on down and let’s record some music”.

Thus Brittany Jean’s Recording Career at Hilltop Recording Studios with Owner John Nicholson, was begun…….*Her new album Golden Hour to be released November 2022*

Ken Bevis is a Methow based singer-songwriter. He is a “nature troubadour” and writes about life in a thoughtful and memorable way. Some of his songs are fun, some are serious. He has written songs for different clients (Methow Conservancy, Methow Recycles, Beaver Project and more) and plays at various venues around the state and the valley. Stephen Kish

Stephen Kish came to the Methow Valley via the Pacific Crest Trail, and started a year long musical sabbatical to hit the ‘wood shed’, and ended up rooting down and starting a family. My life journey has taken me to the tops of mountains and ends of the Earth, always with guitar in hand. I’ve graced stages, played dive bars, roadhouses, helo hangers. I’ve entertained mountain goats and fellow climbers, thru-hikers, but also have performed at ceremonies & weddings and rocked out for festivals, including the ‘coolest’ one of all, ICESTOCK in Antarctica, on a flatbed trailer in a blizzard at the height of Summer! So, from the Roof of Africa, and North America, to the South Pole and many nooks in between, I’ve been shaped by my surroundings and exposure to art in all its forms, and learned from the cultures that have welcomed me in. My strongest suit is fronting the fist pumping, high energy alt rock ska punk band the Full Uplift. Guitar is a vehicle for every genre, and I’ve enjoyed exploring its infinite possibilities. My current solo-offering is a psychedelic electric guitar loop experience called “Stream of ConsciousRIFFS” (https://youtu.be/jOA2jKrL-YU) Improvised ‘noise symphonies’, layers upon layers of musical ideas, different every time, piloted by stomp box pedals and an ear for the inspired riffs of the ’60’s and 70’s (think Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Cream) with some Glass, Reich, Bartok, Stravinsky, and Schoenberg for some ‘balance’!!

I also maintain a teaching studio, Winthrop Guitar Studios (www.winthropguitar.com), and have some very talented and dedicated students, with whom I love sharing my passion for music and guitar. Currently I’m offering online lessons via ZOOM and Skype. Pre CoVid you could catch me hosting open mics at Old Schoolhouse Brewery, playing with The Full Uplift at the OSB, Taproom, and MV Ciderhouse, Musicians of the Methow, or experience Stream of ConsciousRIFFS at the Confluence Gallery, OSB, or private enlightened engagements, with a flair for sonic adventure – I’d like to think of it as something inspired by Pink Floyd’s Live at Pompeii! The next frontier for me is one’s and zero’s…working toward connecting via the Big ‘I’ in the ether…I hope to see you out there and connect some way.
